Sky Road

The Sky Road has a view of Clifden bay and is located 1km from the town.  If you would like to come to Sky Road you may find some nice B&B.  You can see the beautiful view from the top of Sky Road you can see the Sea and boats. Many people come to Sky Road to look at the view by driving, cycling or walking.  There are about 50 houses in there.

Clifden view

Clifden can be found about 50 miles north west of Galway city. This diamond shaped town is the largest town west of Galway, making it the capital of the Connemara region. The town of Clifden was established by a landlord called John D’Arcy at the start of the 19th century so on relative terms, it’s not as old as other Irish towns. Clifden is a great base for exploring the Connemara region as it’s got plenty of accommodation whether you would prefer to stay in a Clifden holiday home, a Clifden bed and breakfast or a Clifden hotel.

Clifden is easily reached from Galway city by taking the N59 from the city to Oughterard, then onto Maam Cross, Recess and finally Clifden.

Connemara

Connemara is located on the west coast if Ireland. It is in this area that Connemara marble is found. This beautiful marble offers a range of color tones. How fitting for Ireland that one of its natural treasures is the only green marble known to exist!

Connemara marble is often referred to as “Ireland’s gemstone” due to its beauty and the fact that Ireland is the sole source.

Connemara marble has found literally scores of uses throughout history. Connemara marble has also been a traditional gift of friendship between families.

Town Square of Clifden

Clifden town in Connemara Co. Galway was founded at the start of the 19th century by John D’Arcy who lived in Clifden Castle (which is now a ruin that can be seen from the Sky Road west of Clifden). The Sky Road in Clifden is one of the best tourist attractions in the entire Connemara region. The circular route is 11km long and takes you out west from Clifden.Clifden is located on the West coast of Ireland.  Clifden is situated in the county Galway. In August every summer the Clifden Pony Show takes place this is an Annual event and during late September Clifden hosts the Arts Week every year which showcase writers, musicians and theatre groups from all over Ireland
